Key features

Detects pitch live from your microphone using autocorrelation
Shows the nearest note, octave, and exact frequency
A needle gauge shows how sharp or flat you are, in cents
100% private — analyzed locally, never recorded or uploaded

Play or sing a note near your microphone to see the detected pitch — the nearest musical note, its frequency in Hz, and a needle showing how sharp or flat you are. Works as a chromatic tuner for any instrument.

Pitch is detected locally in your browser using autocorrelation on your microphone’s live audio — nothing is recorded or sent anywhere.

How to use

  1. Press "Start tuner"

Allow microphone access when your browser asks.

  2. Play or sing a note

Hold a single, steady note near your microphone.

  3. Read the result

The note name, frequency, and tuning needle update live.

Frequently asked questions

How does pitch detection work here?

It uses autocorrelation — comparing your microphone's waveform against a time-shifted copy of itself to find the repeating pattern that best matches, which reveals the fundamental frequency. This is a standard, well-established pitch-detection technique that works entirely in your browser.

What does "cents" mean on the needle?

A cent is 1/100th of a semitone. The needle shows how far your pitch is from the nearest note, from -50 cents (flat) to +50 cents (sharp) — dead center means you're perfectly in tune.

Why is the reading jumpy or inaccurate?

Background noise, multiple simultaneous notes (like a chord), or a very quiet signal can all confuse pitch detection — it works best with a single, sustained, reasonably loud note and a quiet room.

Is my audio recorded or uploaded?

No. Your microphone is analyzed live purely to detect pitch — nothing is recorded, stored, or sent anywhere.
