Key features

Sample-accurate timing, scheduled via the Web Audio clock
Visual beat indicator with an accented downbeat
Tap tempo — tap along to find a song’s BPM
100% private — runs entirely in your browser

Set a tempo from 40 to 240 BPM, pick a time signature, and press Start for a precise click track — tap along to a song to find its tempo, or use the beat indicator to keep time visually.

The click is scheduled using the Web Audio API’s precise clock, not JavaScript timers alone, so it stays accurate and doesn’t drift over time.

How to use

  1. Set a tempo

Drag the slider, or tap the tempo button in time with a beat.

  2. Pick a time signature

Choose how many beats per measure — the first beat is accented.

  3. Press Start

The click track begins immediately and stays precisely on tempo.

Frequently asked questions

Why does this stay accurate instead of drifting like a plain JavaScript timer?

Clicks are scheduled ahead of time directly on the Web Audio API's audio clock, rather than fired one at a time from a JavaScript timer — the same lookahead-scheduling technique used by professional web-based DAWs, which avoids the timing drift that setInterval alone is prone to.

How does tap tempo work?

Tap the button in time with a beat at least twice — the average gap between your last few taps is converted to BPM automatically.

What’s the accented beat for?

The first beat of each measure plays a slightly higher-pitched click, so you can hear (and see) where each measure starts.
