Frequently asked questions
How is percentage change calculated?
Percentage change is (new value − old value) ÷ old value × 100. A positive result is an increase; a negative result is a decrease.
What’s the difference between "X% of Y" and "X is what percent of Y"?
"X% of Y" starts with a known percentage and finds the resulting value (e.g. 20% of 50 is 10). "X is what percent of Y" starts with two values and finds the percentage relationship between them (e.g. 10 is 20% of 50).
