IPv4 to IPv6 Converter

Convert an IPv4 address to its 6to4 IPv6 form, and back.

This IPv6 address is in the 6to4 address space (2002::/16), which allows IPv6 packets to be transmitted over IPv4 networks without explicit tunnels. The IPv4 address is embedded in the 2nd and 3rd blocks.

Key features

Converts IPv4 to 6to4 IPv6 and back, automatically
Shows compressed, expanded, hex, and binary forms
One-click copy for every form
No network request — it's just arithmetic

Type an IPv4 address like 192.168.1.1 to get its 6to4 IPv6 address, expanded form, and hex/binary breakdowns — or paste a 6to4 address like 2002:c0a8:0101:: to recover the original IPv4. Everything updates instantly and is computed entirely in your browser.

How to use

  1. Enter an address

    Type a regular IPv4 address, or paste a 6to4 IPv6 address like 2002:c0a8:0101::.

  2. Read the result

The tool detects which direction to convert and shows every representation immediately.

Frequently asked questions

What is a 6to4 address?

It's a transition mechanism that embeds an IPv4 address inside the 2002::/16 IPv6 address space, letting IPv6 packets travel over an IPv4 network without setting up an explicit tunnel. The IPv4 address sits directly in the 2nd and 3rd blocks of the resulting address.

What do the hex and binary representations show?

Each of the IPv4 address's four octets (the numbers between the dots), written in hexadecimal or binary. It's the same address, just in the base you need for whatever you're working on.

Does this convert any IPv6 address into IPv4?

No — that's not possible in general, since IPv6 has a much larger address space than IPv4. This only reverses the specific 6to4 format, which is designed to round-trip back to the original IPv4 address.
