Key features

Covers a full 84-key layout, from Escape through the arrow keys

100% private — no keystrokes are logged or sent anywhere

Buying a used keyboard, troubleshooting a key that feels off, or just want to confirm a new board works before the return window closes? Press any key on your physical keyboard and watch the matching key on the on-screen layout light up. Keys turn green the moment they register, so a full pass across the board tells you at a glance which ones — if any — didn’t respond.

Everything happens locally using standard keyboard events in your browser. No keystrokes are logged, stored, or sent anywhere — closing or refreshing this page clears the test completely.

How to use

  1. Click anywhere on this page

Make sure the page has focus, then start pressing keys on your physical keyboard.

  2. Watch keys light up green

Each key on the on-screen layout turns green the instant it registers a keydown event.

  3. Check for anything left gray

Once you've pressed every key, anything still gray didn't register — try it again to rule out a missed press.

Frequently asked questions

Why doesn’t this affect things like closing the tab or entering fullscreen?

Browsers reserve certain shortcuts (closing a tab, opening a new one, toggling fullscreen, opening dev tools) at the browser or OS level so that no webpage can override them. This tool still detects and displays those keypresses — it just can’t and shouldn’t change what they normally do.

What does 'possible stuck key' mean?

If a key is held down continuously for more than 5 seconds without a matching key-up event, it's flagged as possibly stuck. That can point to a real hardware fault, or it might just mean you were still holding it down — release it and press it again to clear the warning.

Does this work for laptop keyboards without a numpad?

Yes. The on-screen layout matches a standard keyboard without a numpad, since that's what most laptops have. If you press a numpad-specific key, it won't show up on the layout, but it will still appear in the "Last key pressed" panel.

Is my keystroke data stored anywhere?

No. Every keypress is handled locally with standard browser keyboard events — nothing is logged, transmitted, or saved. Refreshing or closing this page clears the test completely.
